What I Once Knew is a reflection of a completed journey, reflecting on the memories, growth, and experiences made along the way.  The piece begins somewhat simple, with a lyrical melody that grows in vitality as the music progresses, then reaching a radiant climax.  From there, the music unwinds as the theme is played one more time, but in a much more reflective tone, showcasing the path that has been traveled and seeing how far one has come.
