The Barrier explores the mystery of what lies beyond the limits of human understanding. Scored for low brass quintet with the solo tuba separated physically from the ensemble, the work transforms performance space into part of the musical experience. Through minimalist textures, improvisatory elements, and gradual transformation, the piece contemplates the boundary between the known and the unknowable.
